Blue caterpillar poop

 By: Cozmopak : November 8th, 2023-21:56
A well known member of this forum recently inspected the blue dial Phillipe Dufour Simplicity that sold for a million dollars at Christies this week. There was something very interesting inside the movement, BEHIND the caseback exhibition glass, which mad...

🤪🤪🤪

It can really damage the movement! This watch needs an enema!

:)))

This watch is painfully beautiful

Whatever insect crap is behind the caseback, I am sure the legendary watchmaker will fix it. As to auction houses, their work is to be debated

Well said!

🔵🐛💩❓🤔

 By: hora12reborn : November 8th, 2023-22:29

The team at Christies probably FAILED TO NOTICE THIS...

 By: patrick_y : November 9th, 2023-00:17
If Sotheby's can't see a shredder hiding in the picture frame of an artist, I guess I can't expect Christie's to notice a large piece of blue caterpillar dropping in a movement! Thanks for sharing Cozmopak! These auction houses really need to do a more th...

Based on recent events ...

all the auction houses are suspect.

Oui!

 By: patrick_y : November 10th, 2023-04:50

They didn't see it because it was staged

Unless Banksy had created the perpetual battery 🤣🤣🤣

I'm guessing the battery failed...

 By: patrick_y : November 10th, 2023-04:47
Which is why the shredder stopped halfway? Sotheby's is adamant they were not in on the prank. And it seems the battery was on standby for a long time (it had to be on continuously as it has has a receiver for the remote transmitter). Should've used a bet...

Sh.. Happens (≧□≦)

Well

 By: sschew : November 9th, 2023-02:16
at the least the caterpillar crap colour matches the dial. Looking at it that way, this particular caterpillar was very considerate-it sure could have been a different more earthy colour

So true!

Good one. :)

😳😬 Cheers, pplater.

What nobody seems to be asking his how this got inside...

 By: BigFatPauli : November 9th, 2023-12:12
What is under Dufours watchful eye? Maybe, but probably pretty highly unlikely. But it isn't from when we last opened the watch, that means someone else did, which begs the questions of why, who and what did the do when it was opened?

Plot thickens…

 By: Cozmopak : November 9th, 2023-13:59
This watch was consigned by the same guy involved in the Speedmaster fraud

I think you meant . . .

 By: Dr No : November 9th, 2023-16:46
. . . 'surely'. Oh, and btw, you knew . . . . . . this was coming.

I'm all too familiar with these situations...

 By: Tavio_George : November 9th, 2023-13:53
What I typically do is find the manager working at the time and ask for a discount. 10-15% is what I usually get, YMMV.

Nope!

 By: Cozmopak : November 9th, 2023-16:01
It was behind the glass. Hand inspected by a trusted forum member.

Mystery . . .

 By: Dr No : November 9th, 2023-16:52
. . . solved. Loose screw? Blue Loctite to the rescue. ...

😂

 By: hora12reborn : November 9th, 2023-20:59

:))))

 By: amanico : November 9th, 2023-20:59

It looks like sealant, or loctite

 By: jaspermccrea : November 9th, 2023-17:30
Maybe part of a gasket (on the display glass?) has fallen off.
