My new Habring2: The puzzle is almost complete

Nov 30, 2010,00:41 AM

Question: What is a Habring2?
Well, if I'd been asked that question 3 or 4 years ago I would have been puzzled and might have answered, "The European Space Agency's new rocket" or "The USA's latest short range missile"
.........(sorry, no more attempted humour).....

But seriously, if it had not been for PuristSPro, I may never have heard of or learned of Habring2. Repeatedly seeing other member's watches, I became tempted to look at the Habring2 website. Over time I gave more and more consideration to acquiring one of their watches. But I was always worried about buying a watch having never seen one in the flesh. Would I make the right choice? Would it suit my wrist? Would I like it? Would fedex lose my watch in transit?

Eventually the temptation overcame my fears and I contacted the Habrings via their website telling them what I thought I wanted. In reply, a rapid email response with pricelist and about 10 different photos of differing dial types. Almost overwhelming! What type of watch did I really want? What dial would I choose? I looked at my watch box. Mostly black or white dials. I wanted something different, but what?

And then around the same time, I met that travelling Purist in Sydney with 20 or so watches in tow, including several Habring2s. That night, my mind was made up. After a few more emails, my order was placed. No deposit/payment required until completion. That was in july.

But Switzerland/Europe practically closes in July/August for Summer. The dialmaker was about to go on holidays for a month or so. I was OK with that.

And then I was informed the dialmaker was having difficulty making my dial. I was OK with that.

I try not to think about it but then, the dial is ready. I am definitely OK with that.

And then, the watch is assembled. Teaser photos supplied by the Habrings . I'm pretty sure I made the right choices. My excitement level is rising...

Wow, I can't believe the way the dial interacts with the light. I can't wait to see this on my wrist.

It is the end of November and I have the tracking number now. I am following my watch as it travels the world. From Vienna AT to Koeln DE to Paris FR to Poyle GB. The first Habring2 to be directly delivered to Australia is in Sydney now. I am awaiting final delivery. The suspense is killing me. The puzzle is almost complete....

Thanks for looking.

Regards,
Richard.

of the watch that inspired me. I am wearing it now. But it is a single tone dial colour. What you are seeing is the work of a master dialmaker. The grain or brushing is producing the startling two tone effect in the correct light. I hope to get some appro...
