Peter Speake-Marin is in the midst of turning his independent shop into an up-and-coming brand.  First steps, bringing his many models into a coherient collection structure. We now see 3 collections, the Spirit collection of sporty watches, the J-Class collection of more elegant watches and the Mechanical Art collection.  Let's start out with some watches from the Spirit collection.

The Spirit Wing Commander "3-hand" watch with power reserve and a (very small) big date display.  We note the very large wheel in the form of a topping tool which does duty as the seconds hand.  This topping tool form has always been the Speake-Marin signature rotor form and has now found its way onto many dials.

The Spirit Seafire Chronograph from the same collection.

Now we head on the the J-Class collection starting out with a diamond set Resiliance.  The Resiliance models all have an oven fired enamel dial.

he Velsheda is new this year and continues Peter's tradition of popular one hand watches.  An interesting detail is again the topping tool form of both the center of the hand and the seconds wheel.  As they turn at different speeds they form an always changing pattern on the dial.

The Magister is a new one minute tourbillon with automatic winding.  The automatic rotor is formed as a microrotor with a platinum weight so as to not interfere with the tourbillon.

In the Mechanical Art collection we find the Triad which was introduced last year.

Which confirms my love for the case and design! Seeing his collection expands has mixed feeling for me. In a good way, we have more choices each year and a clearer product line to help us choose. However, I like more his random approach of creating an art...
