[Novelty] Legacy Machine 101 "Frost"

Apr 16, 2015,07:58 AM

MB&F has just unveiled a new version of its very nice LM101.

The dial of this new version is frosted and I must say it looks very nice, it completly changes the look of the watch.

I won't say it is more modern or more classical that way. It is just appealing differently to the observer.

As a reminder, the watch is 40 x 16 mm with a 45 hours power reserve and a 18.000 vph (2.5 Hz) movement which fits perfectly with the way the wide balance wheel is presented on the dial side.

It is available in 2 limited editions in Red Gold (33 pieces) and in Yellow Gold (18 pieces).

I personally think, it is nice to limit the number of pieces when integrating a new version of an existing watch in the collection. It keeps a kind of exclusivity, without having the impression to be flooded with unlimited novelties, even with such a low production.

What do you think of this new LM101?

Cheers, Mark

Hi Mark, Thank you for your post and lovely photos. I am trying to be as objective as possible as ten days ago I purchased the 'regular' rose gold LM101 so I asked myself the question which version would I have bought if both the regular and this latest l...

I think that each versions of a model MB&F launches are interesting and remain different. The polished dial and "colored" movement have quite an impact on the watch look and I guess this will bring diversity. I think I agree with you and that I may st...

I love the frosted finish on movements or dial. I don't know why but it looks warm and you want to touch it :) Thanks for your input! Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark for the report !

very appealing looks indeed. I like the RG frosted version between the 2 although the YG version is nice too. However, between this RG LE version and the original RG silver dial version, I think the original non LE version is nicer. The contrasts of the c...

I also think I prefer your model. It is a WG version so it is a bit different but I like the animation the silver patern brings to the watch. Talking about straps, the 1st version is more likely to be combinated with a funky color of course! A nice differ...

Mine came with a black strap

I ordered the electric blue strap hehe My AD was shocked at my choice and he tried to talked me out of it ("no one chooses such a color! Go for navy blue if you want blue") But when the watch was fitted with this bright blue strap, we were all amazed how ...

I had the opportunity to try this watch on in January

...and fell in love with the YG version, which has to be seen in person to be appreciated fully. Allllmost bought one, but got caught on the wrong side of the CHF/Dollar pricing as the prices were set just after the January exchange rate shock. Will hope ...

This means quite a lot...

I don't have really difficulties in thinking about how it should look, as a kind of historical MB&F interpretation, in yellow gold. I'm sure you'll be able to make the move in the future eventually. Thanks for sharing here your impressions Gary :) Che...
