PART III: McGonigle Tourbillon

McGonigle Tourbillon

Stephen McGonigle (unfortunately his brother John wasn't able to make it to this event)

Here are pics of the McGonigle Tourbillon which is based on a Claret ebauche.  This particular one is housed in a red gold case, and the tourbillon is also offered in platinum.  Notice the beautiful 18k red gold satin finished arrow hand tips on the perfectly polished hour and minute hands.

.

The 2 arches of the tourbillon bridge remind me the stick bird drawings I used to draw to depict birds flying in the beautiful blue sky which match perfectly with the font type on the dial.

The dial is a slice of sapphire crystal with cutouts at the top to expose the wolf tooth gearing of the barrel and another cutout at the bottom to expose the beautiful tourbillon cage.  There's a visible ruby below the "McGonigle" print on the sapphire dial which is visible during the day but hidden at night.  When visible, the ruby reminds me of an eye from a cyclops monster smile

The display back is a treat for your eyes.  The exquisite Celtic engraving on the backside of the German silver mainplate reminds me of Frodo wandering around in the woods from the movie The Lord Of The Rings.  Stephen's name is engraved on the movement, which means he was the one who worked on the movement, as well as the month and year.  If you see a McGonigle tourbillon with the inscription "John McGonigle," that means his brother John worked on that watch.
