Drinks with Peter Speake-Marin

Sep 02, 2009,04:04 AM

Peter Speake-Marin was recently in town and a local collector, Arthur Lim, very kindly arranged a small get together over drinks at the bar of the Conrad hotel. Watch talk with a watchmaker was extremely enlightening and fun. Here are some pictures of the evening.

Many thanks to Arthur for arranging the get together.

Some true collectors of obscure pieces. Very nice indeed! It's always a pleasure to meet Peter, and his modest attitude is extremely compatible. Thanks for the photos SJX!

Being so new in this, it was trully a good exprience to sit down in an informal, non-rushed manner and have a good chat with the "soul of the watch", to understand the man a bit better, his ideas, motivations and intentions. To be able to shoot straight w...

Anyone knows the thickness of the movement ? It looks massive from the side.

I think the specs are on his website but

in the metal, it is not as thick as it appears in the pics. I like Peter's case design and hope he doesn't move away from it too much in the future.

wow, looks a great event...

As already mentioned. There was certainly a wide variety of manufacturer's on display. And I was very surprised at how big the SM2 was when on the wrist.
