Peter Speake-Marin at the Geneva Watch Week 2015

Peter Speake-Marin has successfully completed his first year in his make over from an independent watchmaker, fighting alone, to an independent brand, with enough structure to be sustainable.  Of course this entails increasing production enough to support the structure, but is seems that all is going well.  The restructuring of the model line and  production is going well and sales are up.

The big news of the year is the engagement of Pierce Brosnan as brand ambassador for the next three years.  This came about after Speake-Marin and Brosnan met during a film project in which Speake-Marin was engaged as a consultant.  Pierce Brosnan purchased a Speake-Marin watch and later agreed to be brand ambassador.  There are, of course, not many people with a higher recognisability on this planet than those who have played James Bond.  Congratulations to Peter for this major achievement.

Back to the important part, the watches.  Peter has launched updated models using movements from Vaucher, with whom he is partnering also for the production of his simpler watches.

Old model Resilience.

New color variants of the Spirit collection.  More details will be see at BaselWorld.

The new model Resilience with the Vaucher movement.  Note the radial Geneva stripes going out from the balance wheel on the Vaucher movement.

The Mechanical Art Nr. 2 is a 4x jumping hour watch with all the mechanism visible on the dial.  The 4 hour hands jump a 15 minute intervals.  The hand at 12 jump at the hour, the hand at 3 jumping at the hour+15 minutes, etc..

The Mechanical Art Nr. 1 is the Trio.  Some more attempts at a good picture.

The Magister Tourbillon, without and with diamonds.

Note the seconds wheel on this Velsheda dial.

Some case and dial variants of the Serpent.

But any idea why the move from Technotime to Vaucher movements? Seems the new ones are quite a bit smaller.

Thanks for sharing all of these. Quick question - Is Peter still manufacturing his own movement for certain of his watches? Will Vaucher represent the entry level for PSM? Thanks Don. Darren

I wonder if the brand's diversification will take away some of the attraction it had for those who were interested in independent watchmakers... I mean, this was my draw to his watches. It'll be interesting to see how the brand evolves, develops and conti...
