Finally after 2 years of planning, discussions and watchmaking, I have pleasure in presenting to you my new watch and the latest addition to the orange collection... by none other than Mr Kari Voutilainen. For those who joined in on HoMe, thank you for yo...
I love the case back and in fact Kari said himself that it turned out to be stunning. A little worrying to do as you have one shot per case back if you make a mistake! Cheers Andrew
Just Awesome, I love the dial, the case, the movement, everything, will be staring at your beautiful pictures with your permission. Wear it in health :-) S
what awesome work! I have never seen this much work on a hunter case. Just stunning. I would love to know the whole story for this design. Enjoy! Best Joe
When I have more time, I will do a write up with the story and the highlights on the back and forths... it was quite a mission, however an enjoyable one! Cheers Andrew
I have been a fan of Kari Voutilainen creations for a long time. Hope to be fortunate enough to add one to my stable someday. Enjoy and wear in the best of health. Best, JerryW
I have wanted one for quite a while, but I have always found them too small for my wrist. Finally the day has come where I can wear one that makes me smile everyday. Cheers Andrew
What an incredible result. I look forward to learning more about the 2-year process, the back-and-forth, how you decided to move forward with the project, etc. I'm sure the ride was nearly as enjoyable as the end product. (not quite, but nearly.....) Ther...
It was tempting, but I am really pleased with the outcome... sometimes you have to be discreet... for other times there is always an orange strap!! :) Thank you, Andrew
A huge congrats on a one of a kind and once in a life time acquisition. Wear it is good health. Cheers and thanks for sharing (and please do share more). Cholack
When you keep looking at your wrist and have a smile from one side of your face to the other.... you know you have made the right decision :) Cheers Andrew
"What if this is as good as it gets???" There's a real chance! Sensational commission, Andrew: congratulations to you and to Kari. Presumably there is a 'flag fall' birthday on the horizon? Cheers, pplater.
and am worried that all other pieces will not even come close. The eye and discussions are on the next piece to be added but I think this will still remain one of the most treasured. Cheers Andrew PS.... that event has already occurred but still in the sa...
...have in fact been 32 every day: in this case, 32 years and about 8,946 days!!!) ;-) Congrats again. Can't wait to see what you are going to pull out of the hat next. Cheers, pplater.
there will be highly coveted and sought after 'APL' watches, "commissioned by a gentleman with impeccable taste" . With your enamel inner case back you really set a new standard (saying that about a Kari Voutilainen timepiece really makes me feel - presum...
I can see it on the cover of a auction catalogue already! Lets hope the kids don't fight over who will keep (or sell) which pieces. I cannot describe how pleased and thankful I am to Kari to realise my dreams in such a beautiful timepiece. I am sure I wil...
Seeeing a lot of posts on KVs work, I have also wondered how I would like my ideal design to look. You want it to still be sober, but considering that you are able to flexible with the design, you also want a small/subtle bits of flair. Which the orange o...
The case size is 44.5mm so the baseplate has been enlarged and new bridges made to fit the case. The standard movement would be dwarfed in this case and it is something I wanted Kari to concentrate on as I hate a watch where u turn it over to see a small ...
and this is what doing things at 100% is about. It looks great that way and was mandatory indeed. I just saw that you mentioned the movement was darkened, I think it looks nice with the Cotes de Geneve that way. Cheers Andrew. Mark PS: of course it was 44...
Beautiful piece... ...having followed the creation of it, and having seen the (unfinished) dial and (unfinished) movement at Kari's workshop, I finally held it in my grubby little mitts at Basel, and gave it the once over with a loup. And I can honestly s...
Long time I haven't seen such amazing watch. So pure, simple and distinctive in the same time. I love the contrast between the hunter case back and the darkened plate and bridges. And the blue dial...Beautiful! Congratulations! Constantin
I think it's clear, at least for some of us, that every watch KV creates is a master piece, and this is not exception. I love it. Enjoy it! Thanks for sharing. Vte
Well, this is quite a surprise and huge congratulations for this piece Andrew. Kari's watches gather all I like from a watch: the technical features, the finishing and even the classic style which remains unique among other classical designs. I see that y...
This is such a stunning Piece! The dial is to die for, the caseback WOW, and the movement, gorgeous!!! what a wonderful creation!! PLEASE Continue to share more pix of this beauty! May you wear it in good health !!!! HAGWE S
Congratulations, Andrew, I can perfectly understand your emotions... Your new baby is a fabulous piece of art and I'm proud of having witnessed a short step of your journey with Kari, that night in Geneva. See you, Elio
Kari's work is superb. I personally prefer KV's standard size with wall-to-wall movement. 39mm is about perfect. A question of personal preference, off course. There appears to be now a Ø 37mm, a 39mm and a 44,5(!) cased cal. 28. I notice the 32/40. A ser...
This is actually the largest one Kari has made and the size is a one off for me. Actually the photo is a little misleading as it looks like there is a big gap between the movement and the caseback, in affect it is not that big but as the movement is darke...
for your detailed answer. I can only imagine the wonderful trip you must have had with Kari, but I can imagine it well :-) I can now fully appréciate the uniqueness and the beauty of this piece. Wishing you many happy hours with your new treasure. Yes ind...
Hi Andrew, what can i say, creating such a watch is enough for showing you have gone ahead differentiating the Horology. All ı can do it watch the piece of art and wait for the New ones. Best Regards, Bülent.
like it wasn't enough to close weekly wrist scan now we need to close AHCI forum :) Amazing piece of high horology at its best Wonderful idea and execution Bravo Mr. Orange Sincerely Damjan
this is my favorite watch in your already impressive collection and probably one of the best pieces I have seen from KV recently. Simple and just soooo sophisticated. Bravo! Oliver
So often the movement in a big watch gets dwarfed by the case. Such is the case in loved pieces such as the Patek 5070 but why for me, I simply could not keep that one in my collection and fell out of love with it. So kudos to you for asking for Kari to e...
