I've actually had the piece for about a month now and I'm very impressed with it.
I went to my LW AD intending to look at this new Okto II unsure of what to expect since I had been let down once before when I was all excited by the Spidolite Chrono and the new Spidolite 2, only to be very disappointed when I saw them in the flesh and handled them.
The Okto however instilled the exact opposite response that I had with the other two model - it's absolutely stunning in the flesh and for once, the pictures and renderings on the LW site don't do the piece justice. For one, the difference in brushed and the micro-sandblasted finish aren't represented well at all on the site. In the flesh, you really get a sense of the texture and ultra facetted finish of this piece. When I put it on for the first time, it really reminded me of the AP RO Concept watch - super industrial, super aggressive.
The watch wears very comfortably on my 6.5 inch wrist, partly I think because of the new rubber strap they used. The rubber strap on the Okto 2 is different from the regular ones that have on other pieces. For one, this rubber strap does not have the secondary screws on the strap itself. More importantly, it uses a softer, more "natural rubber" feel with some stickness vs the smooth more nylon or silicone infused feel of the other rubber straps. It makes this strap super supple and soft.
This is actually my second LW piece (my first being the Hard Black II) based off the LW "The One" model and I really do enjoy pieces from this brand. While the movements are nothing to write home about, they really thought hard about case construction and to me it's one of those brands where "the case is the complication". Their pieces are "big" at 46mm, but they don't wear like 46mm watches at all. To me, the HB2 wears more like a 43mm and the Okto wears more like a 44mm due to the way the watches hug the wrist.
Finally I reflect Martin's observation that the piece looks like a "stealth fighter" or actually as one of my non WIS friends commented - "your watch looks a lot like the tumbler vehicle in Batman". I took a look and surely enough, it kinda does.
Cheers
