RM002/003 versions

Feb 22, 2014,12:33 PM

Hello Ron,
Indeed the main difference between the two is that the version 1 has a titanium baseplate and the version 2 has a carbon nanofiber baseplate.
This difference is very easy to see with the naked eye.

More tricky are the different incremental changes within version 2.
There were several changes to the back plate constructions (1 part, 2 part and even 3 part backplates I believe), the addition of a tiny engraved movement number plate, and other changes to the construction of the function pusher mechanism. Visually easy to detect; the earliest versions of these have a rather small diameter pusher in the crown, later replaced with a wider diameter pusher.

I am afraid I do not know all the details about these incremental changes, I just remember seeing them at some point, probably because the RM002 is my favourite model of all ;-0)

All of our watches go through these kinds of incremental improvements on an almost continuous level, and i am afraid cannot remember even a fraction of those updates in detail !

…….but the easiest way to spot is the carbon baseplate on the V2, if I am not mistaken.

Hi cheaper, No, that is not quite the case, I am afraid I have not been clear. The versions don't get upgraded to new versions with a servicing. Version 1 titanium and Version 2 nanofiber are some years apart and radically different in their internal asse...
