This watch is not “special” because there’s only one, but it’s special because it carries scratches and marks from my life not someone else’s!
As for robots, I hate to inform you but no watch is “hand made”(maybe GF hand made), all brands use CNC’s and robots to make the parts and I mean all! No watch brand cuts plates, pinions or make hairsprings by hand, not one!
Yes, robots make the parts at Rolex however movements are hand assembled since no robot can place balance springs, wheels or pinions in the movement nor can place the baseplates tougher.
As for the production numbers yes, Rolex is mass produced, but the number of watches produced by any brand is limited by only one factor and that is money nothing else.
Now as for special, since you brought it up, yes, Rolex as a brand is special since it filed for more patents that we both can count, delivers an unprecedented precision at large scale like no other brand, and let’s not forget that the whole watch industry is copying the brand one way or another, from marketing to model design…
Rolex is a trendsetter like it or not.
Nevertheless if for you uniqueness comes from let’s say only five being produced, more power to you nothing wrong there, different strokes for different folks…
Hope you get my point.🥂
