A clandestine meeting in a restaurant in Zurich: News from Ochs und Junior!

Dear All:

On Friday, 20 March, the conspirative group of the lead-oxen of Ochs und Junior met clandestinely in a restaurant in Zurich, all drawn magically on the screen of the Macbook:

What were they cooking? the next secret plan? Oh no, totally wrong: Ochs und Junior does the opposite, they are going public: The new website www.ochsundjunior.ch (click here) is online now:

Its so funny and charming with all those lovingly designed drawings, just check it out:

But this is not all, they had more to show: I reported earlier (click here) on the first prototypes of the amazing Ochs und Junior watches which are the distillate of the intellect of the horological genius Ludwig Oechslin.

Now, the second series of prototypes are ready which already incorporate lots of improvements, technical ones and subtle aesthetic changes.

I will not spend too much time on the technical upgradings (which cover, amongst other, modifications on the mainspring barrel, the winding wheel depthing, etc, all this while maintaining the overall height of the movement) but instead would like to show you the new dials and hands!

The legibility of the watches ever was an area with potential for improvement. Now, take a look at these, feel the new contrast:

Also the fine finishing of dial and hands has benefited a lot, while preserving the workmanlike (but highly demanding) aesthetics.

Even 'on the man' the improvements are obvious:

For me a dream - so clear, so pure, so subtle...

So, I am now off to my plane to Malaysia, have a good time and see you in Basel in a couple of days!

Best,
Magnus

The dial and the case look quite rough. Perhaps, this is merely the quality of prototype. Hopefully, some improvements will be made on the dial and the case of the final products. Cool watch, anyway. Regards Ling

Ling, the case is extremely close to serial production...

actually the cases will more or less remain as they come from the machining. This is a demonstration of the extreme quality they can achieve by delegating the case-making not to a standard supplier, but to a specialist workshop who produced engine parts f...
