DeWitt at Baselworld 2010

Hello everyone,

During BaselWorld 2010, I had the occasion to visit the DeWitt stand and discover in detail their beautiful collection. Here are some pictures of the 2010 BaselWorld novelties.

Twenty-8 eight tourbillon. Equipped by the DW8028 caliber, manufactured by DeWitt. Notice the guillochage with the «W» finishing, which is hand made, in the traditional manner by DeWitt.

Academia Tourbillon force constante à chaîne. Equipped by the DW8050 caliber, manufactured by DeWitt. This model already existed in the DeWitt collection before Basel 2010. Though this version with this «chocolate» colored dial is a Baselworld 2010 novelty. One of the outstanding features of this watch is the tiny hand made chain, made of more than 190 parts. On each link composing the chain, there is a DeWitt logo engraved.

Here is one of the links composing the chain, mentioned before, with the DeWitt logo engraved.

Twenty-8 eight automatic. The difference between the Academia and the Twenty-8 eight case is that the Twenty-8 eight case is slightly thinner than the Academia. This one of my favorite watches from the DeWitt collection, for it’s simplicity and it’s wonderful finish. Again you can see on this watch , how DeWitt beautifully masters the guilochage.

Academia BlackStream Chronograph with a case made of grade 5 titanium, black PVD and rubber.

Academia BlackStream triple complication GMT.
Equipped by a GMT, dissociated date and Day/Night module by Agenhor.

Finally, the biggest and most impressive novelty from DeWitt:

This is the new tourbillon caliber from DeWitt. It’s particularities are that it’s automatic, which is pretty rare for tourbillons , and equipped with a peripheral rotor. The caliber is decorated in the «Art Déco» style, which comes fully to value thanks to the peripheral rotor which does not hide the caliber as would do a normal rotor of a classical automatic watch. It also has a dead second, an other interesting and rare complication.

I hope you all enjoyed this outline of the BaselWorld 2010 DeWitt novelties.

Kind Regards,

TD

I still can't get over the styling of their watches though. Designs are too avant garde for me. Cheers, Anthony
