Laurent Ferrier at the GTE 2011

Of course Laurent Ferrier showed his now famous Galet Classic, but you have all seen many pictures here on the PuristSPro that are better than mine, so I will save you the effort.  But what you have not seen is the new "Tourbillon à Secret" which he showed at the GTE for the first time.  The dial is formed of shutters that can either be opened by pressing a button in the crown or by setting a time, like a visial alarm clock.  From behind the watch you have the movement that has been so well recieved.  For the image that is shown one can imagine all types of things, this image is a miniature enamel painting.  The only false note is that this adds significantly to the thickness of the watch and although much effort has gone into finding a form that is flattering, the watch seems fat.

...this watch is a "miss" for me. Maybe I'd feel differently if I saw it in person, but the case looks bloated. I'm sure this design can and will be refined in the future. I am so excited about Laurent Ferrier's watches! Cheers, Daos

On the contrary...I love the fact..

is the word that comes to mind.... Funny how certain players in this field can make such a huge impact so quickly. I can see a few years in the future when his name will be known by every one of us around here.

Taking a 2nd look at this watch a few hours later

I'm finding it innovative and beguiling. Resisting waxing poetic... This watch is showing a less pure vision of traditional Swiss watchmaking than the first watch of his that we saw... I'm enjoying seeing this man's vision.
