Hartding 1903 - Finally the first boutique for independents …

Aug 12, 2012,10:43 AM

in Germany – HARTDING 1903 in Dresden.

The opening was already in May, but unfortunately I didn´t find the time to prepare this post.

Nonetheless I would like to share some impressions, info, thoughts …

What is it all about? Located in the center of Dresden, the current vice president of AHCI (Adadémie Horlogére des Créateurs Indépendants) and owner of Lang & Heyne Dresden, Marco Lang, opened a boutique for exceptional watches and creations. Marco Lang plans to spend some time in the boutique, but that won´t be easy for him beside running his own watch company. Nonetheless his lovely sister and a highly motivated team will take good care of the daily business.

The represented brands are currently :

  • ANDERSEN GENEVE
  • C. VAN DER KLAAUW
  • DANEVYCH
  • HABRING²
  • KUDOKE
  • LANG & HEYNE
  • MARC JENNI
  • MATTHIAS NAESCHKE
  • MIKI ELETA
  • PAUL GERBER
  • PHILIPPE WURTZ
  • PITA BARCELONA

So you see there are quite a lot AHCI watches on display and even more.

Not all of the "Independents" could attend the opening in person, but there have been lots of watches and from some I could take snapshots for you smile

It looks like a safe and it works like one, but it is even more – the showcase.

There is more than one in the boutique and inside the watches in stock are displayed. I like that kind of presentation as it is perfect to get an overview before looking in detail.

(Marco praying: "Please let it be a succesful project." smile )

Watches on display – examples only :

Psssst, if you are not 18 don´t look at the next picture. Or at least don´t look in detail smile

The atmosphere was very pleasant at the opening …

… and there was time to enjoy …

… to have (some) fun smile

… to talk to colleagues …

… and of course to talk to customers.

It was a real feast for the eyes to see all those watches, clocks … pieces of art in one place. Maybe not all of them are for everybody’s taste, but who cares as most of them are produced in very limited numbers. Quite more interesting are the different characters behind the pieces on display. It probably won´t be possible to meet all of them in the boutique again, but the selection of their watches will be exceptional (especially for Germany) in any case and I am quite sure that the team running the boutique will take good care of anyone who is interested. If you have the chance for a visit, you shouldn´t hesitate.

For all those who are not convinced yet, let´s have a closer look to some of the watches:

More to come, soon. (promised) smile

Ciao,

Oliver

'Passion' in California represents several independent watchmakers. No doubt this is a great thing for the independents... at the same time, one doesn't want them to get too big... because it's so meaningful and poetic to speak directly with them. For ins...
