BaselWorld 2013 - Vianney Halter

May 07, 2013,10:59 AM

BaselWorld wouldn't be the same without the hints of the future, the little meetings and rumors and insider talk.  This year it was Vianney Halter who provided the juiciest talk.

We have all been wondering where his voyage is going next.  How can he possibly top the Janvier and its level of finshing; more than 2000 hours of work put into each watch?  After these fireworks of watchmaking Vianney had to take his time and spent more than a year to catch up with himself.  A year of dreaming, philosophizing, reflecting on the human condition.  Trapped in the 4 dimensions of space and time.  Free in those 4 dimensions of space and time.  Fascinated by outer space and the actual and fictional exploration of space, outer space is a big part of Vianney's dreams, but as a watchmaker the 4th dimension, time has, of course, a special meaning.

Despite his strong desire to express himself, to make himself understood by others, Vianney is not a writer.  As he says, "the only thing I can do is make watches".  So his means of expression is his watchmaking.

We have now only about a month until the official launch of Vianney's next baby, his next reflection on time and space.  Until then we will have to make do with this teaser.

Here is hoping it integrates the new project of Force Constante Tourbillon model prototype he showed at L'Atalier in Singapore. March 2011. ;)
