Christophe Claret delivers the first Margot timepieces

“He loves me, he loves me not.” What hopeless romantic hasn’t ever picked the petals off a daisy to
discover how their sweetheart feels about them? This classic conundrum comes to life on Margot,
the  first  Christophe  Claret  complication  specifically  developed  for  women.  Debuting  at  Baselworld
this  past  spring,  the  elegant  Margot  has  already  conquered  the  hearts  of  those  in  the  horological
world: The timepiece has been preselected by the jury of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève in
the Ladies High Mech category, the award for which  will be presented at a red-carpet ceremony on
31 October, 2014.

Christophe Claret is pleased to announce that the first versions of Margot, in diamond-set white or
red  gold,  are  now  being  delivered.  Already  available  in  boutiques  in  the  United  States  and  Hong
Kong, Margot will soon be gracing all official Christophe Claret retail partners.

Clients  will  be  seduced  by  Margot’s  beautiful  expression  of  true  love.  This  original  timepiece
transforms  watchmaking  savoir-faire  and  high  precision  mechanics  into  an  amorous  declaration.
Margot’s  automatic  winding  movement  features  an  enchantingly  innovative  complication  that  lets
the  wearer  ‘pick’  the  petals  off  a  daisy  on  the  dial.  With  each  press  of  the  pusher  at  2  o’clock,  a
crystalline  chime  resonates  and  a  petal  –  sometimes a  pair  of  petals,  it  is  impossible  to  foresee  –
subtly disappears under the dial in a smooth action, perfectly depicting the delicate undressing of the
flower. The eagerly-awaited answer (in French) appears in a window at 4 o’clock. Who would have
thought that a game of love could be played out on a high-end mechanical watch? The feminine gold
case has a curved profile to marry with even the most slender of wrists. The natural mother of pearl
dial exudes romantic femininity, revealing delicately engraved verses penned by Victor Hugo. A pair
of  gold-tipped,  steel  hands  glides  over  the  12  white,  satin-lacquered  titanium  petals  that  tightly
embrace the central citrine pistil. Three pear-shaped diamonds at 3 o’clock, 6 o’clock and 9 o’clock
poetically punctuate the scene. The display back reveals the automatic winding rotor – a delicately
carved,  flower-shaped  carousel  of  colors  symbolizing  sentiments  of  love.  Margot  is  the  perfect
allegory  for  Christophe  Claret’s  desire  to  create  a watch  that  is  both  charming  and  complex,  the
ultimate embodiment of women. Margot blossoms in four limited editions of 20 pieces each.

Christophe  Claret  is  an  haute  horlogerie brand  whose  exclusive  timepieces  are  available  in  four
collections:  Traditional  Complications,  Extreme  Watches,  Casino  Game  Watches  and  Ladies’
Complications. In its own special way, each timepiece is an expression of the values that define and
distinguish  the  master  watchmaker  himself:  innovation,  perfection,  passion,  uniqueness  and
exclusivity.
