Aaron Becsei – Primus

At Baselworld 2008 Aaron Becsei is presenting his first wristwatch and starting out right, with a simple 3-axis tourbillon.  Becsei is the third generation of a Budapest watchmaking family.

The Primus 3-axis tourbillon is unique in that it uses no ball bearings, but shafts in jewels as in traditional watchmaking.  The inner cage makes a revolution in 30 seconds, the middle cage a revolution in 2.5 minutes and the outer cage in 12.5 minutes.  This fast movement of the cage makes the whole very engaging to look at.  The balance takes on 3750 different positions every 12.5 minutes.

The tourbillon mechanism weighs a total or 1.5 grams and includes 17 jewels.  In total the watch has 367 pieces including 40 jewels.  The watch is all handmade by Mr. Becsei himself including the case and buckle.  He is planning on making 9 pieces.

This tourbillon clock is also Mr. Becsei's work.
