BaselWorld 2014 - Kari Voutilainen Kari always knows to amaze. Let's start with the Tourbillon-6. This is a new tourbillon using Kari's double direct impulse escapement. Note the size of the tourbillon cage, at 14mm almost half the diameter of the dial, w...

Thank you Don for the post and lovely photos. Kari goes from strength to strength! His movements and the quality of the finishing are second to none. To own a timepiece from his manufacture should be on the list of every true connosieur.

Thank you Don

The Tourbillon 6 is mesmerizing. I imagine it is called this way not because Kari will be making only 6 of them, but because the tourbillon rests within a second's sub dial's placed at 6 o' clock, as is often the case in his work. I wonder what Kari is no...

Amazing amazing work. Both watches are just SO stunning, almost perfection!!!

The only flaw I see in the movement aesthetics is the mainspring click. I don't like that very much, but i udnerstand that it follows the aesthetic conception of hte movmeent with all the screws and round fittings... so the mainspring click should be roun...

... we need some more. Nobody finishes like the Finnish watchmaker! Kari is the world's premiere independent! All the best, - Scott

I am usually not a fan of tourbillons which make a hole in the dial.

And this Tourbillon is not, by far, among my favourite KV, but I must say that Kari's work is deeply, strongly amazing. Bravo, Kari. Nicolas

... are these pieces actually available for sale? Highly decorated watches normally don't move me but this is practically not even a watch anymore -- this goes beyond all that -- its just an incredible work of art, very much in the Japanese miniature trad...

the tourbillon will be 6 pieces, I think the Hisui is a unique piece, but you can certainly talk to Kari and see about having a second one made. That is the joy of the independents. Don

It is an unbelievable experience to look at his watch, one when you take it out to wind it, set it, look at the movement, the strap it on. Two, all day long in all the different light and the mesmerizing of the dial and hands, th case, and his hur markers...

What a lovely Observartoire that you have! May I ask how accurate is the watch daily? Watchmakers are generally nice and humble people but I agree with you that even by those high standards Kari is an extremely likeable person. One almost feels the necess...

As always, Kari never fail to amaze me with movement finish and this time with this rather unseen treatment of the bridges in both tourbillon and Hisui artpiece. The greyish finish adds contemporary color to the traditional KV finish and I wonder what exa...
