Hey Indies fellows,
As I mentionned it some days ago, MB&F has finally released its new LM today, it's a smaller and thinner version, taking its DNA from the Legacy line.
Erice Giroud for the Design and Kari Voutilainen are still in the boat for this one.
It is 40mm x 16mm and exists in rose and white gold.
It has a 18.000 bph movement.
As you noticed it's a new balance wheel bridge and a new 45 Hours power reserve indicator.
An intersting reinterpretation of the LM1, even if I seem to prefer the previous bridge's and PR indicator's style.
I think it's nice to have a smaller version (LM1 was 44mm) that will suit to smaller wrists.
As you can notice, the dial layout is slightly tilted, though I would not say unbalanced.
I'm surprised to see it's as thick as the LM1, even if the case seems thinner. Something to see in the metal.
What do you think?
Cheers, mark
Here is a descirption from the official website:
For a classically sized 40mm wristwatch, Legacy Machine 101 covers a lot of ground. Or to be more precise, LM101 covers a lot of time: over 100 years between inspiration and realisation.
Legacy Machine 101 embodies and accentuates the very essence of what is essential in a wristwatch: the balance wheel, which is responsible for regulating precision; how much power remains in the mainspring, which indicates when it needs to be next wound; and of course, the time.
LM101 has one more very special feature, one that cannot be seen: it houses the very first movement developed entirely in-house by MB&F.
Visually, LM101 is dominated by the monumental suspended balance wheel. Two pristine-white subdials: At the top right, highly legible hours and minutes are displayed by beautiful blued-gold hands , while the 45-hour power reserve indicator is displayed in a smaller, but similar subdial below.
In an apparent feat of magic, the sapphire crystal protecting the dial appears to be invisible; creating the illusion that you can reach out and touch the balance wheel hanging mesmerisingly from elegant twin arches.
Turning over Legacy Machine 101, the display back crystal reveals the exquisitely hand-finished movement. Sensually curved plates and bridges designed by award-winning independent watchmaker Kari Voutilainen pay homage to the style found in high quality historic pocket watches and testify to the respect accorded to historical legitimacy.
