What happens when you have found your grail watch
Jan 06, 2024,17:32 PM
The exit watch as it is called. A fabled acquisition which when purchased satiates your appetite for purchasing any further watch .
Does it really exist or is it a concept us watch fanatics create to make us feel like we are on a journey with a fixed path and timeframe ?
Well let me tell you all a story.
I have been on a quixotic search for the final piece in my 9-90 puzzle.
I have written numerous times about my desire to find a pink gold ref 1593 to complete the set including yellow and platinum ( as far as I know they were not made in white gold )
I have passed up multiple offers from collectors , dealers and auction houses . Case too polished , dial refreshed or worse - reprinted , crystal replaced
Every and any excuse was found . Until now
I was on insta and saw one for sale . Currently on holiday I was definitely not watch shopping and not intending too. But this one looked really good dial looked perfect with no sign of human intervention case was crisp with hall marks and French import marks ( an eagle head )
I accidentally passed the shop and they had the watch for sale
Everything checked out Everything was perfect It looked almost brand new with lovely edges to the case and the dial had high enamel letters with a lovely layer of aged zapon lacquer
I just could not fault it
So Now how do I feel after the purchase
Surprisingly serene
I feel like I now longer needs to chase windmills
I cancelled most of my inst accounts I was following ( dealers ) and am only following collectors whom I feel have the same collecting ethos and style similar to me
I actually think this is it and I can close the collecting doors and enjoy what I have
Maybe this feeling will change but I hope not I am enjoying the idea that I have stuck to my plan of only buying a watch that is in excellent condition and not compromised at all
Nothing more is required
For your enjoyment here is the full collection in yellow pink and platinum

So we all need to square it to some extent! Mine is even equipped with a fully removable glass, for a better cleaning of the dust at the corners ;-) Enjoy your grail! ...

An intriguing story. A path you go on route to the final peace of the puzzle. A labyrint vow out, clear route to the dejavu point. When i found my grail, my second grail was not made. My second grail was a surprise. When the maison launched their new line...

That i was forgotten to say how nice your special Patek Philippe is. I was looking at the hands and some double view. I thought a special kind of hands, one like a Rolex Milgauss. Like an end watch, i just made a purchase for my first watch for year 2024....
Collection closed !! 🤣 who knows

The minute hand is straight but the crystal is faceted so the image is refracted to show a bent hand J
Very happy for you, Julian…
