Urwerk is showing their watches outside the fairs in a suite at
the Hotel Les Bergues.
This is what I saw:
The new 202 with automatic winding, Steel case coated with AlTiN.
The AlTiN coating is used on machine tools to give them exceptional hardness
and longivity. Next to the watch you can see such a milling bit with
AlTiN coating.
The automatic winding mechanism being between the movement and the case back
doesn't allow including a control panel in this model, but it does have an
adjustable winding mechanism. For vigorous activities automatic winding
over-winds the watch. To avoid this the Urwerk 202 allows adjusting the
sensitivity of the winding mechanism. Two small turbines, seen here, are
driven by the winding mass. The air that flows through the channel can be
more or less blocked using the handle in the middle. The more the airflow
is blocked, the more resistance the turbines have, less the watch is
wound. In the final position the winding mass is mechanically blocked so
it doesn't move at all for very vigorous activities. In this picture the
little holes are all open for maximum winding.
This new 103.8 with a steel case is also coated with an industrial coating,
this time TiAlN which is a rich brown.
Again shown with a mill using the same coating.
103.8 in Steel TiAlN and WG from the back.
A 202 in white gold, note the new moon phase and day/night disks replacing
hands on earlier models.
