I don't 'get' Kari anymore
Jul 31, 2013,12:11 PM
I was a worshipping fan up til a year or so ago. I made a dream come true and owned an Observatoire.
Then I sold it.
Strangely, I never fell in love with that watch. But I could never say it lacked passion or breathtaking attention to detail.
However, it left me sort of indifferent.
Since selling it, whenever I see new Karis, I am put off by all of his endless variants and decorations.
Maybe it is just me, but I feel he is 'too accomodating' to collectors whims.
I prefer the watchmaker who makes what he makes, and if you like it, buy it. If you don't, then don't.
A few metal choices, a few dial choices, and that's it.
I prefer my purist watchmakers... er... more pure?
