It is difficult to make a public comment about aesthetics or design because our PuristS credo is 'tolerance and acceptance of endeavour with passion'.
The MBF 'machines' have always been polarising and were designed to be like that. If you don't upset at least a third of the public, you don't have a cutting edge design!
The HM3 movement provides ample opportunity for artistic impression because the 'googly eyes' of the time displays can appear to be anything with a face.
I like this face! The owl is a wonderful interpretation on many levels. It appeals to the heart and brain, perhaps a bit more than robots or space invaders.
The gems and wokmanship must be top notch from the House of Boucheron, so no comment there except that I really see an owl. As PuristSPro Piaget forum moderator, I have learnt to appreciate the inextricable link between gem-setting and case-making since timepieces were invented. They are not separate Arts. In fact, it was the norm to decorate and gem-set the best cases for the best movements. It is only recenly, with industrialisation, that we have mass produced utility watches without decoration. Ironically, as we moved to more accurate timepieces in our mobile phones and PDAs, the art of decoration has returned to our Sunday-best watches.
Of course, I can't afford the first MBF watch that I have ever liked!
That is the nature of Life and the Universe.
