SIHH 2012: A brief visit to Laurent Ferrier at its nest!

 By: Dje : February 18th, 2012-07:52
Laurent Ferrier doesn't show his watches at the SIHH, but spending a few days in Geneva was a nice opportunity to visit the Laurent Ferrier workshop there and meet again the men behind this recently launched yet very respected brand. I had met already bot...

Thank you

Being a huge fan of Dufour, it takes no leap to love Ferrier. I agree with everything you said. the more I see his work, the more desirable his work becomes. Can the price of the Galet be discussed here?

You're welcome

 By: Dje : February 21st, 2012-12:57
Hi Mostel, Well this is not my forum so I can't say about price discussion! I guess you can give a retail price (if we can talk about retail in the case of Laurent Ferrier). Then discussion about knowing if this price is justified or not is IMVHO not nece...

Nice surprise !

A great report Dje. I really love Laurent Ferrier's products and we don't have much opportunities to know from him. I particularly love the Galet Micro-rotor timepiece. On your very nice pics the work seems outstanding. Thanks again Best, Mark

Great report, Jerome!

Still work on mine, but don´t have enough time :-( I agree with almost all of your observations and would recomend this version for you: Thanks a lot, for sharing with us - pictures, observations and personal thoughts! Oliver...

Very unusual for me I prefer the YG

 By: Mostel : February 18th, 2012-16:16
at least in pics... YG with silver dial, YG markers... It may be another example (among very, very few designs) that quiet the mind, because the mind has no questions. The watch is near perfect in pics, yet it has its own design.

Hi Jerome, a wonderful job of conveying the beauty

and true classic nature of Laurent and his watches. He is an enormously talented watch maker, dedicated to style and beauty in all he creates. His watches are truly timeless and they will be enjoyed by many generations to come. Thanks for the excellent ac...

My pleasure Tim!

Hi my friend, Thank you for your kind comments. We don't have that many opportunities to love obvious simple marvels! Best Dje

Thanks a lot Jérôme for the superb report.

I will be frank with you: even if I love the work on the movements, their technical features, their beauties, their finishings, I'm less convinced by the "over classic" dials (and more annoying, to see always the same one). I would be very happy to see a ...

Thanks FX

Hi, To be honest I've seen the watch with dial opening. Yes it's nice, but on the contrary for me it lacks the fine side of the watches I've shown (and my pics of this one were not very good anyway)! It's a watch for someone who already has the other two,...

Bravo! great report, its a tough call, both dials are very very nice..

I'd have to get both of them at this point , thank you for sharing. S

I'm in love with LF just like you! When the micro rotor Galet was first announced, I wasn't sure about the dial, as just like FX said, I find it a little over-conservative. However, it takes time to warm up to it. Now I think the sober dial is a wonder co...

Thanks Jerome! I have to visit myself one day...

I love this back dial. Like Fx said the fan dials are extraordinary. I can't warm up to the other dials Where does one see in person these watches? Only in Geneva? Many thanks for this beautiful report. Comments on LF are so limited. Joe

Thanks Jerome. Wonderful post and pics.

These are my kind of watches, too. I think I prefer the light dial, gold markers and hands. It's somewhat silly to look at this side of the watch, though. Everything I need to know is on the other side. Best, CaliforniaJed

Sure. Thank you! nt

i would choose the silver dial one personally yet i would chose the grey one in case the hands and the indices of the silver one are applied to it, i do find their Micro-Rotor of a more charm for me however i appreciate the tourbillion alot, but this mirc...

I love the simplicity of his pieces incl the Tourbillon. As someone said - very much in the style of Dufour Julian PS are these pieces available ? or is there a list? Julian

They are in the great tradition of horology, like Philippe Dufour

 By: Dje : February 21st, 2012-13:15
Hi, They are in the great tradition of horology, like Philippe Dufour indeed. But they have their style and distinct technical facts. Regarding availability, you may ask them directly, I can't say! Best Dje

Depending where you go

 By: BluNotte : February 21st, 2012-16:47
In Japan they have some of their pieces, like the YG on the shelf ready for cash and carry. But models such as all Platinum pieces are made to order, and current lead time is about 1 to 1 half year. Since you are in Australia, i suggest you try Singapore....

Thanks Much appreciated [nt]

I like the people at LF a lot (starting with Mr. Ferrier) and appreciate the quality of their watches as well. Seems fairly likely that a micro-rotor will make its way into my collection at some point... Best, Gary G

Thanks for sharing.
