No one - not Dufour, not Voutilainen - that actually DELIVERS in any reliable fashion, makes EVERYTHING. And I'm not just referring to the well known quasi-monopolies in hairsprings and balances.

Screws are bought in (screws are not "no brainers" - speaking to watch technicians one finds screws are the MAJOR problem area in aftersales service.) in the appropriate grade and sometimes finished further.

Same with springs...

cases and dials are specialist sourced, as are (usually) hands.

Even with legends like Mr. Dufour (maybe ESPECIALLY because of that legendary status) the MYTH of "completely in-house" is extant.

This coming from a long time admirer and owner and champion of Mr. Dufour and his products and all independents.

Dear Simplicity owners, May I ask you 2 questions I forgot to ask Philippe Dufour when I was with him : - to wind the watch, you turn the crown until it "stops" and then make half a turn back, right ? (this is the way I wind my Lange's) - when setting the...

Hi, Congratulations for taking the time to share with us when you could just enjoy the Graal you waited so long for. Philippe Dufour's workshop is the first workshop I visited, back in march 1997. I still remember very clearly the incredible atmosphere an...

does Mr Dufour make everything himself or does he outsource?

the pictures of his workshop look like a place a man would craft everything by hand regardless of cost or time.

One has to be realistic.
