i try to build a relevant collection. you have a great collection yourself.
i will be in UK at Sept instead of August. will hope to see everyone again.
Dufour is something to cherish......but i have a "strange" philosophy.....only collect something one know-how to appreciate....in terms of horology..be it the technical advancement, material science, finishing, brand, cultural relevance, watchmaker himself or status symbol....all dictates the collectability if a timepiece, and only if most of these are understood and appreciated, then I would proceed to purchase one. I see so many collectors just chase pieces because others collect them, myself having made this mistake before....and there is no longevity of interest. i feel I have NOT reached a level to fully appreciate the Dufour Simplicity. but I know I will reach that point someday. also, I have consciously decided that when i decided to buy the Dufour, it must be "paired" with a benchmark complication, prob a Gruebel Forsey IP series, or a JLC Gyrotourby. Why? becoz one plays off the other, and makes one appreciates the other piece better!! and it will also mark the high point in my collecting, unless lottery is struck, I might have to sell many pieces, which will also make it more precious experience in some ways.
best,
Horo
