Ulysse Nardin Basel 2016: GRAND DECK MARINE TOURBILLON.

 By: amanico : March 18th, 2016-15:27
I still have to better understand how it works, but here is some information, already: Flying Tourbillon, digital jumping hours, retrograde minutes activated through a boom, which is controlled by 4 pulleys driving the nanowire. The movement is the Cal 63...

A watch with a minute hand that tacks and gybes .....

It's even got, winches, a main sheet and teak deck ..,another unique take on time by UN!

Looking mad as ever ... I like very much!

Looking forward to understanding more on how it works.

I forgot to say that it is a limited edition of 18 pieces... And I don't have an idea on

 By: amanico : March 18th, 2016-23:25
The retail, but I expect something quite high... Best, Ronald. Nicolas

If it is limited to 18 I may not get to see one. Curious...

What the MSRP will be.

I have no idea. [nt]

Wow...I do like this one.

That wooden dial is quite nice. I can't wait to see this one in the metal. Thanks for sharing Nicolas.

I love this, even if it must cost more than a yacht!

How cool is this with cables, pulleys and winches! Cazalea

Here's

The video A review by Ariel

Seeing the pulleys and winches in action is great. The boom is then moved by the wire. Ok.

 By: amanico : March 18th, 2016-23:17
Now, it looks very thick! And I would have liked to see more of the movement. Best, Nicolas

Seriously......

That is just AWESOME!! Well done UN on creating this, the way the boom nicely slides back after 60 mins.

The Depth...

 By: wover : March 19th, 2016-03:19
I don't care how thick it is because, OMG, the depth in the upper picture is mind boggling. A dial like a ship's deck, a minute hand like a mast on a sailboat, the flags, the colour, the winches. And of course that amazing depth! - Wover

You must praise Ulysse Nardin for such a creation.

Innovative, technical, polarizing, intriguing, unique. Legendary hallmarks of this awesome brand.

It looks really, really cool....

it seems like the price is high up in the PP 5370P region, will have to sell my heart for it, but then I'm dead meat. I wonder how much R&D they do on those tiny wires. I'll snap if they snap one day. Anyway, something beyond my reach and my needs. Always...

I don't think so. [nt]

Dyneema

 By: wover : March 20th, 2016-15:47
BlTWatch write that the wires are Dyneema. That's pretty tough stuff. I'm sure the winding stem will break berore the wire goes. -Wover

unique

Very nice watch, first I've seen video in the UN party, and this was my first choice to take hands next day ...

;) Thanks for reading, Milan. [nt]

Mixed feelings...

 By: moc : March 21st, 2016-13:14
I am fascinated by it,but not sure if it is a bit too...novelty. I am scared about its size, thickness most of all....But I am fascinated by this watch,,,every hour you have a little show on your wrist. I disagree about the lugs,I prefer it like this,as it...

Me too , generally speaking, but this watch

 By: moc : March 22nd, 2016-00:05
With lugs could become unwearable by most, so I welcome a design that is functional too, even if , I prefer lugs... Mo

Here comes a wristshot

The interest of the nanowire is to create a wonderful visual effect: the retrograde hand comes back to the starting point at a slow pace. I shot a movie. Fx ...

While I am not sure of being comfortable enough to pull it off...

It is certainly a truly intriguing piece The naval theme is appropriate and executed in a very innovative fashion, as to be expected from the brand. Like it a lot!

Love it...

but definitely a novelty piece I think.

... It Would Be Fun To Own One... if I didn't want a house instead. One of the cool things is that the minute hand doesn't just 'spring' back to zero. Rather, it takes a smooth and slow track back to its origin to convey (I think) calmer seas ahead. Note ...
